Long Time, Big News

For over year, Pegamoose Games has had the Puzzles of the Month feature. Now it's time to kick things up a notch. Over the month of September 2007, we are migrating the website to require users to log-in to access certain pages. For those who take the small amount of time it takes to set up an account, you will be able to access the restricted pages. But, that's not all...

We have signed on more puzzle authors to contribute to the Puzzles of the Month. We have more than my two contributions per month. We have authors from the National Puzzle League and puzzle authors running professional puzzle hunts across the globe. Which is why Pegamoose Games will ask for a modest subscription fee to play the new puzzles. We would like to compensate the puzzle authors for all their hard work. Subscription service is expected to start in October.

Some of the puzzle authors have also expressed interest in helping out with our other venture, which is a custom puzzle design service. Are you a teacher trying to reach your kids in a new and challenging way? Are you a restaurant owner looking for activities to print on your children's menus and placemats? What about advertising your product with a puzzle that will hold the consumers attention to your ad for more than a few seconds at a time? Whatever kind of puzzle needs you may have, our team of designers will create a new puzzle for you. More details coming soon.

Small Company, Big Changes

Pegamoose Games has recently done some major remodeling. We've added links to a forum and a blog. We've added some short fiction, freebies, and tip jars. But, the most exciting thing to announce are the puzzles.

Pegamoose Games introduces the 2006 Puzzle Challenge. What is a puzzle challenge? A puzzle challenge is a contest, typically in the form of a scavenger hunt, in which players receive a series of clues which must be deciphered in order to find the solution to the challenge. One example is NBC's Treasure Hunters. Another is ABC's Hanso Foundation media blitz for Lost. Stanford has The Game, and Just Passing Through has Shinteki. Pegamoose Games has the 2006 Puzzle Challenge with the theme, "There's a Moose on the Loose!"

In the race-styled challenges, players or teams must pay an entry fee, solve the puzzles sequentially, and run all over town looking for the next clue. The Pegamoose Games Puzzle Challenge is a 22 page document available for free from their website. The 24 unique puzzles may be answered in any order and in the comfort of your own home.

We think people are going nuts trying to feed their brains. People love Sudoku puzzles. There are movies about spelling bees and crossword puzzles. TV has great shows where people are playing along online. People are thirsty to exercise their minds, and Pegamoose Games is opening a lemonade stand to help satisfy some of that thirst.

The 2006 Puzzle Challenge isn't the only freebie available on the Pegamoose Games website. We have other games and short fiction also available for free. And, beginning in September 2006, we will kick off the new Puzzles of the Month club. Even though these products are free, we set up a few micro-payment, tip jars.

The goal for distributing a free Puzzle Challenge with the option to tip is to improve awareness of Pegamoose Games, and simply because it's fun. It would be great if people want to make a contribution to help fund new games, puzzles, and features. If not, we hope you're having fun.
